At Whom is it Aimed?
The course is designed for those who (a) have successfully completed the first year Adult Acting Course (or similar standard) and (b) are considering embarking on a full-time acting training course/career or intend increasing their acting ability for work in amateur/student societies.
Aim Of the Course
The course is intended to continue the development of skills and to further increase the ability to interpret texts, characterise and relate to an audience and gain experience of performance.
What is Covered in the Course?
Work will continue on relaxtion, voice, movement (both period and contemporary), with some exploration of improvisation and theatre games. However, the emphasis is very much on the creation and expression of character. The rehearsal process - whether it be on scene work, developing audition techniques and speeches, or a play - will be the key area of exploration on the course.
One-Act Plays - Autumn Term
Three Act Play - Summer Term
The culmination of this central element will be the rehearsals and performance of a full-length play and/or a dramatic piece developed through improvisations. This depends on the specific talents and interest of the participants (i.e. directing and playwriting talents can be developed if a sufficient interest exists). The course will culminate in a workshop performance of this work and full length play production at conclusion of course.
